What an opportunity we had to go out and shoot mountain climbers with Dave Flack. Dave is the US Olympics official photographer and some of his photographs are the most memorable that you’ve seen from the Olympics. When we set up this workshop in Moab Dave suggested that we get some mountain climbers and do a sports photography session with the attendees. This was a great idea and the location that we had and the climbers were just incredible.
Dave talked about some the aspects of shooting mountain climbers on location and gave direction as to places you might want to go and how to capture people climbing that shows excitement and the story. We photographed for almost 2 hours and probably would have photographed longer but our climbers were getting tired and the sun was getting low so we all decided it was time to go have dinner and a drink with the two tired climbers.
